Which Career philosophy do you agree with the most? How is your career philosophy similar to your ideal job?

My philosophy of a career path is one that you enjoy your job and helping others. I suppose making another person feel better and help them overcome their issues gives me a good feeling. Knowing that i made the slightest difference in their life. Also knowing that you have the potential to help others. It shouldn't matter about the money, but i wouldn't work for free either.

My philosophy for "work" is pretty similar to my "ideal" jobs, it would either be something in physiology, law, or human services. They all include working with others and helping them over come their issues. I just want to make a difference, a positive difference i suppose.

This was found tagged on a wall in China, after the Chinese police murdered hundreds of Buddhist monks. Is this art or crime? Explain in your blog.

Depends on your definition of freedom of speech. To me it's just that, others might say it's vandalism. But if the message has something important to say then it really isn't because they're expressing their thoughts to the public eye. Getting people to think about the words written in that wall isn't their ultimate goal. Most people aren't challenged with philosophical questions. They have as much as a right as the news papers to express their message. It's sort of a hard reality, that some people won't to be exposed to.

Whats the point of the documentary?

The purpose for this documentary is to inform people about the other side of the soda companies people don't see. It's showing beyond the superficial commercials that they spent millions on or their advertisements that you see everywhere. It's showing the true side of the multi million air business. The sinister side i suppose. Showing facts but also having this comic relief to it. The main goal is not to be bias, but show nothing but facts to back up our comments. This documentary is being made to open people's eyes to this ignorance we live upon.

What are the pros and cons of television? What are the ways it's good for society and the people and what is the way it's bad for society and the people?

Television definitely has it's pros and cons. But over all you have to admit television has done more bad than good. Yeah it does play the latest shows and gives out the news that most teens don't watch because it's mostly depressing. Yes it informs us about the world and the tragic things that take place, it's mostly a bad reminder of how messed up this world is.

else but just that. Other than keeping us entertained, we loose Television does just that, inform. We can easily inform people with newspapers. The reason that televisions were invented were for entertainment values only. No exercise, we gain weight. Develop short attention spans and have our minds corrupted from t.v networks like M.T.V. I can give you a million reasons why t.v is a horrid. But you'll still watch it. Because it's became a drug for society, and mostly everyone is addicted.

Crystal Darkness

Some of the weakness of the video was that there wasn't any kids our age speaking about their encounters with Meth, they mostly adults talking about what happened to them. They also didn't have many facts there were mostly testimonies of people. But they were very convincing and they got me thinking. I was also surprised by what i learned and how Meth has become very popular among the young people. So i think that those were some of their strengths, it was getting there message out there. They also didn't get off topic either.

What types of stereotypes do people have about Muslims? What goes through your mind when you see this picture:

Since the incident of September 11th, many people began to stereo-type Muslims. By saying their all of bunch of terrorists , but the truth of the matter is that they're not all terrorists. When i look at this picture, i see a family they might not look like the common families i see here everyday. And you can't help but grow this compassion towards them, because they have to over come all these obstacles and set backs and also the discrimination they have to deal with. When you can see that they actually are like us in many ways. Maybe if everyone tried to look beyond the stereo types people cast on them, maybe that'll be the day when we'll be able to move away from racism and hatred conflicted against minorities and also whites. We need to acknowledge that the are human beings like you and I.

What are the pros and cons of studying history? How can history be used to help understand what's going on? How can it be used to spread hate?

Some of the pros of studying history is that you know the past and can learn from the mistakes of others before you. You also understand your history a little better, making you appreciate it more. Your more advanced in subjects and it helps you understand present issues better because you know what caused them. A con of learning history is misunderstanding it.
History as an important part of our life, we live our lives around it feeding off of information we discovered in an earlier time than ours. It helps open doors by helping us understand the reason for something, like why it occurred. Helping us more forward instead of backwards. Sometimes people tend to use history and it's happenings to persuade people of hating a certain race or religion. By pining the blame on them. Thus creating more hate and spreading it by using events of the past and being biased towards the one race[s]. History has it's pros and cons, but it definitely has more pros.

At what point does a group of people become a nation?

A group becomes a nation when they have a large amount of people sharing some kind of belief that brings them together. The group establishes laws that they agree with, as they follow them and form punishments for people who disobey them. Like the United states, everyone in the nation or the majority amount of it wanted to restore democracy and fairness. So they got together and fought to be declared a nation that has it's own independence. Designing the Constitution which we live by till this day, but over the years we've added laws from our experiences and difficulties we've faced over the years as a nation. Breaking barriers and setting apart from other countries in the world.http://www.fortliberty.org/american-flag/images/Flag-26.jpg

IMPACT, does it really do just that?

I've participated in certain community service projects and attended family nights. In both i helped out in some way. I honestly can say that the IMPACT program does exactly what is was named, it "impacts." It impacts people in the community by getting them involved. It impacts students by giving them opportunities of making a difference in this neighborhood. It impacts everyone in some form or way. It also impacts the teachers and students by making us do community service each quarter. It benefits all of us by teaching us new things everyday. By working hard on projects and being able to have the privilege to work with technology on an everyday basis. We learn twice as much and work extra hard to keep this program alive for the next class. It also teaches us useful information that we will be needing in the long run. The impact program truly does what it says it does, it makes a positive difference.

Wikis?

What are some of the pros and cons of using a wiki? What are some projects people could do that would use wikis?

Some of the cons of using a wiki is that the students might not know how to use the wiki properly or even use it at all. The pro of that theory is that they can teach each student how to use a wiki properly. Or maybe the wiki might be a little too complex for some of the students, because i know myself that i was a bit bewildered when i barley stated using it.
The other upside to using wikis in the class room more often is that we know how to use other sources of using websites so it helps us gain knowledge. Over all i think the wikis would be a great addition to our class projects, we'll have more options and varieties for projects.

In your opinion, what is the most important right given in the Constitution? Why is it so important to you?

Freedom of speech is the most important to me. Without the right to say what you think and believe you won't be able to defend no other rights that are given to you. It gives you the chance to go against the things that you disagree with. You defend yourself and you have a voice in things. The freedom to express yourself and thoughts on the process are important to get your message across without being accused of breaking a law because it's your first amendment right.

Do we even have rights?

We're unable to wear regular clothes, it's mandatory to wear your uniform everyday. We can't say what we like when we like, so in other words we have no freedom of speech. No students are allowed to bring weapons to school, we cannot bare arms. They can search our things without permission, so they don't need any kind of warrant. We can't practice our religion in school.

They limit our rights in school, and all the rights we were taught we had we don't get to use. We basicly have to do what authority appoints us to do. No 'talking back' to teachers, whatever that means. Which is unfair, well to a certain extent it is.

Describe, in a paragraph, what each branch of government does.

Branch one is legislative which connects to house of representatives and the senate, The legislative branch gives congress the power to make laws and this is made by senate and house of representatives.
The executive branch makes sure that the laws of the Untied States are obeyed. The president is head of that branch he also gets help from the vice president.
Judicial branch is made up by the court system. The supreme court is the highest form of court in the land. They decide how the rules applied and what they mean. They make sure that the laws that are being made don't brake the constitution's rules.

To me the legislative branch is the weakest and the judicial branch has the most power. The legislative can make all the laws that they want but the have to be approved by each house. So it's pretty tough to get laws passed. The supreme court gets to choose how the laws apply to the state and gets to choose whether they get used or not.

Paragraph #1 - What is the point of the political cartoon? In what ways does it show bias and propaganda?

Paragraph #2 - Why will immigration be a big issue in our next presidential election?

The point of political cartoons is to catch a person's attention. I think they have more guts when it comes to the cartoons being made. If they would say what the drew it would cause a big controversy. They get issues that people don't talk about a lot. Or are just afraid to speak of the issue aloud. It's trying to say that the American culture will perish if immigrants keep coming to America, in a way they're showing that they're taking over.

Yeah immigration will be a real big issue in this election. People are real concerned with what's going on in America. It confuses people, because America was suppose to be a country with rights and freedom that was built on with nothing but immigrants. Now they're trying to say they don't want any immigrants at the United Sates. Not everyone thinks that way but it still gets said. Some people are for it and others are against. It doesn't matter what side you choose towards the end because it affects everyone in some way.

Why don't many people vote?

The biggest reason why people don't vote is because they believe that they can't make a difference in this country. They're convinced that their voice won't get heard and it's a waste to try to be listened to. Plus the electoral votes angry people, because it makes them feel as if the votes the casted don't mean much. That's one of the major reasons why people don't even bother. But the thing that they don't understand is that at the end of the day you know you at least tried to be heard. And if millions of Americans keep that thought implanted in their head, no one will ever be heard.

When i turn 18 of course I'm going to vote . I was born with the privilege to make at least a little difference. I want to be involved in the choices this country makes as a whole. Because most of the major decisions that will be made by electing a president will effect me in some way. I should take advantage of every opportunity that i get, because not everyone in this world gets to participate in things like elections. Even if the president of my choice doesn't win i know i still made at least some difference.

Paragraph #1 - What makes it difficult to figure out what between what candidates actually believe? (For example, why don’t you know what Obama believes about Global Warming?)
Paragraph #2 – What is the danger in picking political candidates based upon personality rather than their beliefs on issues?

It's kind of hard to figure out what the candidates really believe in, because they're always trying to please the people. By telling them what they want to hear. All the candidates get so caught up in the race that they don't cover every topic. They just hit the big issues that concern many individuals. So they don't mention many of the little topics like global warming. They majority of the people are more concerned about the economy than ice melting.

I think America learned from this mistake, the mistake of electing a president for their personality than their beliefs. Many people in America right now disagree with what bush is doing with this country. But maybe they should have thought about that when they elected him. The danger of the whole situation is that they're going to make choices that you disagree with. Why elect a person for presidency if they stand for everything your against of? All that is going to be happening is the people clashing with the presidents beliefs in how to deal with an issue as big as war.

1-Education-(Democrat) I'm against the aims and how they expect us to fulfill their standards of what they think is smart.5
2-Immigration-(Democrat) Why should they get kicked out of a country they contributed so much too.4
3-Environment-(Democrat) It's every one's planet, we should take care of it best as possible, it affects all of us if something bad were to happen to it.3
4-Abortion-(Republican) I do believe it's murder against a living thing that is hopeless 2
5-Homosexuality(Democrat) you should have the right to marry who ever you want.1

Republican & Democrat

Paragraph #1 - Describe the difference between the Republican and Democrat parties.

Paragraph #2 - Which party do you think represents your beliefs the best? If you could vote, which party would you choose?

Democrats are more about the people, they want the government to be more involved. Republicans want more of a smaller government, they think people should be responsible for a lot of the things democrats are against. Democrats believe democracy should be spread around the world and believe in things like abortion. Republicans think we shouldn't involve our country in other countries issues. They tend to be ore Conservative and are against abortion. Everything a republican stands for and democrat stands exactly for the opposite. Both parties are very different.

I agree with most of the democrats insights and solutions to problems in this country and the world. I would be more of a democrat than a republican. I do believe that the government should be more involved with the people. That was the purpose of it when it was created. Even though they believe taxes should be higher, your still benefiting from them some how. Democrats are more for the common man that works hard and needs help sometimes when things get rough. As republicans are more for the wealthy and their rights. Which most people in America don't fit that description.

The governments job is the insure peace and equality. Supply the country with education. Protect civilians, and help them out in a time of need.
I do think the government should help the poor and restore the middle class back into America. Everyone goes through hard times, and we should be generous enough to help out. We unit when it comes to war and we should unit when it comes to helping others in need that live in the same country, deal with the same issues every American is dealing with in todays society.

Paragraph #1 - Describe how a president is elected.

Paragraph #2 - Describe who might have a difficult time being elected with how much money and time it takes.

The way a president gets elected is by creating an exploratory committee which you raise money for the primaries. Than they must announce it and start getting signatures from fifty states. So they can get their name on a ballot. This usually happens a year before the election. Each party has a season when they campaign, like t.v ads in important states. The first real primary occurs in Iowa than New Hampshire a week later.
After the primaries are done we usually know who will be the republican and the democrat. Between February and November the candidates participate in debates. Finally in mid November the elections are held. The popular vote does not determine who wins it's decided by the Electoral College.

It will be more of a challenge to get elected if you lack money. Which means you can't campaign as much as the others. So you have to have millions and millions of dollars raised. You have to dedicate an entire year for campaigning. Which means no working and mostly traveling. You have to have a lot of time on your hands and be committed a 100%.

Documentary

Paragraph #1 - You will be interviewing people for the documentary. Who are some people you would like to interview?
Paragraph #2 - In what ways will people act differently when they are on camera? What does that say about our trust in the accuracy of video?

I would like to interview everyday people. Maybe teachers and students and ask them questions about the product ask them if they know the risks. Inform them of other things too. Afterwards ask them how they feel about the product after the information we gave them.

People tend to be shy around the camera. I know I do, it's uncomfortable. Maybe that will affect people because sometimes you freeze or get embarrassed. Or sometimes people won't want to be interviewed because of the camera it self.
There are people who don't like to be exposed like that. So maybe it
might be a challenge or an issue. Or it might be totally different. Probably some people do want to get exposed or it might attract attention.

If you could say anything to our next president, what would you say to him or her? Answer in at least two paragraphs.

If i could say anything to the next president of the United States i would ask him why areas with poverty don't get helped out? What would he do about the homeless in America? How would he try to fix that problem? Why don't some schools get enough money to buy more utilities for classrooms?
What is he or her going to do about the the troops that are over in Iraq? How long is this war going to last?
How will he/she restore the American dollar? What will he/she do to gain more alliances with other countries? How will he/she fix the ones we have? What laws would he try to make to protect immigrants.

Social Voice. =]

Paragraph #1 - Why do so many people visit our Social Voice blog? Are you surprised where the people are from?

Paragraph #2 - What does this say about the power of the Internet? What are some pros and cons of so many people having access to our blog?

I'm pretty surprised in how much people have visited the blog. I honestly didn't think much people knew about social voice. It's awesome how you can get your message out better in the Internet, because it's accessed by many around the world. I think others are curious about what we learn or do for education. Maybe the subjects we covered and insights in controversial questions answered some of the questions they had or better yet changed their mind.

This says a lot about the power of the internet, it says that you can reach out to people around the world. The internet makes it easier to get your message out there. Some of the pros is that your voice gets heard, people see your point of view. Some cons are that you get exposed a lot. Millions and millions have access to you, and sometimes it's not so safe.
